Professional Experience

Frank Borowicz, KC has over 40 years experience in conflict resolution, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. He is a prominent arbitrator, mediator, and governance advisor to public organizations and private corporations.

Frank is a Governor of the Vancouver Board of Trade, having served as Chairman and Chief Elected Officer, and is an independent director of several public and private companies, as well as the Canada-China Child Health Foundation. He has also served as a Director of the BC International Commercial Arbitration Centre, as an Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka, and as Chair of the BC Industry Training Authority.

A retired partner of the international law firm Davis LLP (DLA Piper), Frank was a founding faculty member of the University of Victoria Law School, having previously been a law professor at the University of Windsor. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors and holds a certificate in Financial Literacy from the Rotman School of Management.

With multiple certifications in arbitration and mediation, Frank is a charter member of the Arbitrators Association of BC, a founder of Bizcourt and the Conflict Managers Group, and is designated in the Forest Act Register of Mediators and Arbitrators. He has also been a mediation advisor and trainer to many organizations including the Provincial Court of British Columbia, Ontario Court of Justice, Canadian Association of Provincial Court Judges, Singapore Mediation Center, Hong Kong Attorney General’s Chambers, World Bank, US National Institutes of Health, Canadian Council of Association Executives, BC Treaty Commission, Freedom of Information and Privacy Commission, Labour Relations Board, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, BC Principals’ & Vice-Principals’ Association, College of Dental Surgeons, Registered Nurses Association, Institute of Chartered Accountants, and Thompson Rivers University Law School.

Frank has served as a member of the Law Society’s Justice Reform Task Force and Public Relations Committees, and Chair of the Administrative Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch. He has also been an adjunct professor of forestry law at the University of British Columbia, an instructor in the Professional Legal Training Course, and course coordinator and panelist for the Continuing Legal Education Society.

Frank is a recipient of the Concordia University Alumnus of the Year Award, and numerous awards for extraordinary client service.

Professional and Community Involvement

Frank has the highest Martindale-Hubbell professional rating, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace for British Columbia and, in addition to being King’s Counsel, is an Honorary Chartered Professional Accountant.
